PRESS RELEASE — DE ROCKSCHOOL SEEKS NEW HOME IN LEUVEN TO CONTINUE GROWING: “OUR OPERATIONS ARE BURNING OUT OF THE SPIRALS!”
Leuven — Music school De Rockschool in Leuven is urgently looking for a new location. The school, currently situated above music store Leo Caerts on Naamsestraat, is gradually bursting at the seams. With more than 600 students, dozens of coaches, and a rapidly growing operation, De Rockschool intends to invest in a sustainable and future-oriented home base in Leuven in the coming years.
Since 2001, De Rockschool has been organizing individual music lessons for children, young people, and adults, supplemented by band lessons, music camps, a rock choir, and music initiation. Every week, hundreds of Leuven residents find their way to the music school for lessons in singing, guitar, piano, drums, bass, and other instruments. However, the school is also a popular venue for music lessons in the region outside Leuven.
Currently, De Rockschool operates from older premises above music store Leo Caerts on Naamsestraat. These spaces have been adapted and renovated multiple times over the years, but are increasingly reaching their limits. There is a particular need for more space and better acoustic possibilities for group lessons, band rehearsals, and drum lessons.
“Our students appreciate the cozy atmosphere and the charm of the current location, but we notice that our operations exceed the infrastructure,” says Severin Caerts, coordinator of De Rockschool. “We want to continue growing, become more accessible, and offer more comfort to students, coaches, and visitors.”
The music school is therefore looking for a new location in or around Leuven, preferably in the city center, near the station, or along the Vaart. Good accessibility by bicycle and car is essential. The ideal location offers space for multiple classrooms, rehearsal rooms, a group room, and a reception area. Collaboration with other Leuven associations or organizations is also a possibility.
“We strongly believe in an open house for music and culture.” says Severin Caerts. “With a new location, we want to invest not only in high-quality music education, but also in a place that can add value to the broader cultural landscape of Leuven.”
Through this call, De Rockschool hopes to reach owners, organizations, project developers, or other stakeholders who can contribute ideas or know of potential locations. Both existing buildings and future projects are eligible.
