Are you between 7 and 12 years old and do you dream of shining in a real musical? Then join this musical camp by De Rockschool at Appeltuin in Leuven! During this five-day music camp, we dive into a creative adventure where the kids are fully in charge. You will be the creators and masterminds behind your very own musical! Guided by our professional coaches Lela (dance & drama) and Jonas (singing & drama), you'll shape the story, characters, songs, and choreography based on a modern fairytale. No experience is needed at all, as long as you bring plenty of enthusiasm to build towards a fantastic final show on stage together!

What does a musical camp look like?

The camp is packed with stage fun: from acting workshops and singing lessons to dance, creative writing, and set crafting. We split the group into two age brackets (7 - 9 years and 10 - 12 years) to rehearse at their own level, but join forces for the big ensemble scenes!

Singing, Dance & Drama

During the Musical Camp, we dive headfirst into the three pillars of the performing arts. Under the professional guidance of Lela and Jonas, participants work on vocal technique, voice control, and harmony while rehearsing popular musical numbers. Additionally, they learn dynamic dance routines that seamlessly connect with the storyline and music. In theater, they discover how to captivate the audience through improvisation, emotion, and strong character building. Together, we build confidence on and off stage, ensuring everyone feels ready to take that step into the spotlight.

Exploratory Learning & Creativity

At De Rockschool, we don't believe in mindlessly memorizing a pre-written script. We work based on the principle of exploratory learning, where the children themselves are the creators of their performance. Guided by our coaches, they brainstorm the storyline, help write the dialogue, and shape the personality of their own characters. And it doesn't stop with scriptwriting and singing: we also roll up our sleeves to design the set, craft props, and create custom costumes or T-shirts together. This way, it becomes a show they can be proud of until the very last note.

Workshops, Games & Relaxation

Rehearsing, singing, and performing on stage takes a lot of energy, but a camp experience is also all about fun, relaxation, and making new friends! Our days are structured so that intensive rehearsals and workshops are balanced with relaxing games and downtime. Through engaging teambuilding games and group activities, we forge the entire crew into one tight-knit theater cast. Because only when everyone feels completely comfortable within the group does a performance truly come to life on stage!

• 08:00 – 09:00: Daycare (optional)
• 09:00 – 09:30: Welcome of the Rockertjes & musical/physical warm-up
• 09:30 – 10:30: Musical rehearsal (singing & drama per age group)
• 10:30 – 10:45: Break
• 10:45 – 11:45: Creative workshop (scriptwriting, set & costume crafting)
• 11:45 – 12:45: Lunch break
• 12:45 – 14:15: Choreography & dance
• 14:15 – 14:30: Break
• 14:30 – 16:00: Group game, teambuilding & rehearsal of ensemble scenes
• 16:00 – 16:30: End of the camp day
• 16:30 – 17:30: Daycare (optional)

Pricing

This five-day summer musical camp (without overnight stay), filled with all kinds of musical activities, workshops, and a final concert, costs €329. Supervised care (8:00 AM – 9:00 AM & 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM) is provided for €50 per week. Current students receive a member discount of €20. Request your discount code via info@derockschool.be.

Because this camp is organized through Heyo, administrative steps are simple and straightforward: Tax Certificate (281.86): After the camp, you can easily download your childcare tax certificate directly from your personal Heyo account. Who can join?

All young stage stars aged 7 to 12 who dream of singing, dancing, and acting are more than welcome at the musical camp! Whether you already perform in front of the mirror every day or simply want to try it out for the first time: this camp is for everyone. You do not need any experience, and you don't have to be a student at De Rockschool to join. Our coaches guide every participant at their own level, so all you need is a healthy dose of enthusiasm and a desire to shine on stage together!

Final concert

The final concert will take place on August 6th at 16:00 on the main stage at primary school De Appeltuin in Leuven. Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends, and family: everyone is welcome to come and enjoy (and maybe shed a tear of joy)!
