Play in a band, take band lessons!
Rockschoolrock is over. Maybe you were on stage yourself, or you came to watch friends, family, or one of the many bands giving it their all. Did it spark something in you, that inner Jimmy Hendrix? Then the band lessons at De Rockschool in Leuven are probably exactly what you’re looking for.
Band lessons in Leuven: making music together from September to May
At De Rockschool, music is not just about individual lessons, technique, or playing along with your favourite songs. You learn music mainly by playing together. That’s why our band lessons are one of the most popular formats within our music school in Leuven.
During the band lessons, you play together with other musicians in a real band setting. You learn to listen to each other, play together, improvise, perform, and you get to play the best covers under the guidance of a band coach.
And best of all: you grow as a musician! Playing together is THE way to improve your skills on your instrument. Many students notice that they progress faster by making music together, and as a result, they enjoy playing their instrument even more.
For 30 band lessons (including the final concert) of 1 hour each, you pay €475 (price 2025–2026).
- Minimum age is 14 year.

Each band is carefully put together based on:

This way, we make sure you end up in a band where you feel comfortable and where everyone can grow together. Whether you’re into rock, pop, metal, indie, funk or alternative music: there’s always room for your style.
From rehearsal room to stage
Being in a band also means performing live. And that’s something we work towards throughout the year. Every band takes part in at least one concert moment: Rockschoolrock. That’s the moment where you get to show what you’ve been working on together all year long.
From your very first rehearsal to standing together on stage with professional lights, sound, and an enthusiastic audience: that journey is what makes the band lessons so special. You don’t just learn how to play songs, you discover what it feels like to really make live music together on stage.
Cool to know: some of our bands decide to keep playing together after their time at De Rockschool. What starts in a rehearsal room during the band lessons sometimes grows into a real band that starts writing their own music, playing extra gigs, or launching their own projects. Just think of Nelson, The Less The Better, Return Me, Cardinal, ...

Registrations for the band lessons are open all year round, but the bands themselves are formed in August. So if you want to play in a band from September next school year, now is the moment to sign up. This allows us to look in time for the fellow musicians who best match you.

Stay in your musical flow this summer!
Keep your musical flow going with our Summer Sessions. Take 1 to 5 music lessons during July and August, choose your own schedule, and learn with the coach of your choice. Fully flexible, with no weekly commitment. Open to everyone. Registration opens on June 15.

On Sunday, May 31, The Rock Choir of De Rockschool will give two benefit concerts in Loonbeek in aid of Bednet. With a varied repertoire full of pop and rock songs, it promises to be a warm and musical evening for young and old.
