Musical summer camp for mini-rockers aged 5 to 8 with big dreams, right in the heart of Leuven

Is your little Rockertje, aged 5 to 8, eager to take their first musical steps? Then sign them up for Mini-Rockertjesweek! From August 10 to 14, we’ll transform kindergarten de Appeltuin in Leuven into a real Rockertje Werchter. For five days (day camp, no overnight), the mini-rockers will be immersed in a summer festival full of musical activities and games. They’ll get to explore different instruments and discover how fun it is to make music together. As the grand finale, the week ends with a spectacular concert, where the mini-rockers take the stage together as a full orchestra! Read on for more info.

What does a music camp look like?

During this super fun music camp, each day revolves around a new musical theme, which the mini-rockers explore through games, creative workshops, and musical activities. They’ll create their own merch, decorate vinyl records, personalize a real rock guitar, sing songs together, and even take part in a music quiz. For some little ones, this might be their very first encounter with music, so no previous musical experience is needed.

Musical activities

Mini-Rockertjesweek is first and foremost a music camp where young rockers are introduced to music in a playful way, exploring everything from rhythm to melody, from different songs to various genres. Each day focuses on a new musical theme, with games, creative activities, and crafts tied to that theme. Think of practicing rhythm and tempo on pots and pans with AC/DC, or decorating old vinyl records in a cool hip-hop theme. Which themes are planned for this year? That’s still a secret… but one thing is certain: every edition is a blast!

And if that weren’t enough, the mini-rockers also design their own unique t-shirt as a keepsake from the most fun music camp in Leuven. From colorful ’60s-style tie-dye to more modern designs, each shirt becomes a true collector’s item.

Musical first steps

Our music camp is more than just a summer camp: for most mini-rockers, it’s a unique opportunity to experience music for the first time. Even if they haven’t taken formal lessons yet, they explore the basics of musical concepts and instruments through play. What does it feel like to sit behind a drum kit? What happens when you press the keys of a piano? Under the guidance of our professional coaches, children experience all of this in a fun and exploratory way.

Price

This five-day mini summer camp (without overnight stay), packed with musical activities, workshops, and a final concert, costs €315. Childcare is provided for €50.

Mini-Rockertjesweek at De Rockschool in Leuven gives young musicians aged 5 to 8 a taste of music, fun, and creativity in one unforgettable week!

For which mini-rockertjes?

All mini rockstars aged 5 to 8 are welcome!Are you a bit older? Then you can join one of our other music camps, such as Rockertjesweek or Rockkamp. No prior music experience is needed for the Mini-Rockertjesweek, and you don’t have to be a student at De Rockschool. Everyone can join!

Final concert

With all these new experiences under their belt, the mini rockers will wrap up the week as one big orchestra, performing a spectacular final concert for family and friends! The concert will take place on August 14th at 4 PM on the main stage of kindergarten Appeltuin in Leuven in Leuven. Parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts, friends, and even distant friends are all welcome to come and enjoy the show (and maybe shed a little tear).

The Mini-Rockertjesweek runs from August 10 to August 14, 2025, at kindergarten Appeltuin in Leuven
This music camp is day-only (no overnight stay)
Each day runs from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM (childcare is provided for €50)
Mini-rockertjes do not need any prior musical experience
Lunch is not provided, but we will provide an afternoon snack and plenty of hydration
A ticket for Leuven’s youngest festival costs €315
We are not responsible for any sudden rock star attitudes your little Rockertje may develop!

*De Rockschool is recognized as an acting member of the Leuven Cultural Council. This means you can request a childcare certificate (281.86). In addition to this certificate, you may also be eligible for a subsidy from your health insurance fund for recreational activities. You will need to request a form from your health insurance fund and submit it to us fully completed on one of the camp days.

Good news: from 6 years old, mini-Rockers can take lessons at De Rockschool! And there’s more: if your mini-Rocker is enrolled in lessons, you’ll receive €20 off all our camps.
